Dr Ng Kim Swan

Dr Ng Kim Swan

Dr Ng Kim Swan is the senior consultant Anesthetist in the Anesthesia department and the Head of unit for Pain Management under the Anesthetisia Department in Hospital Selayang. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine ( MBBS) from Kastubar Medical College, Manipal, University of Mangalore, Karnataka State, India in 1995 and subsequently major in Master of Medicine (Anesthesiology) in University Science Malaysia, Kubangkerian in 2004. Upon completing her study, Dr Ng Kim Swan served in Hospital Serdang and Hospital Selayang as Anesthetist Specialist. In 2011, Dr Ng completed her fellowship in pain Management in Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong, China.

Dr Ng is a core member for the National Registry for Regional Anesthesia since 2012. She is also a committee member for Task Force in Pain Free Hospital Project, MOH, member of International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), MASP, Malaysian Society of Anesthesiologist (MSA) and Malaysia Medical Association (MMA).

She has been invited as speaker and facilitator in the workshops for both local and international conferences such as WIP, ASEAPS, MASP, AOSRA and ASEAN Congress of Anesthesia. She has over 20 presentation and 6 write up. She is one of the author for Malaysia Society of Anesthesiology Year Book 2011-2012.

She was involved in over 21 Investigator Initiated research and 3 Industry Initiated research. Her main interest is in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management.

Dato Dr Fitjerald

 Dato Dr Fitjerald

Dato Dr Fitjerald is the consultant general surgeon ( colorectal) and Head of Surgical Department of Selayang Hospital. He obtained his MBBS from University of Malaya in 1989 and completed his fellowship in Surgery ( FRCS, Edinburgh) in 1994. Subsequently, he completed his subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery at Colorectal Unit, Singapore General Hospital in December 2000

Dato Dr Fitjerald is currently the National Head of Colorectal division of Ministry of Health. He provides training to undergraduate and postgraduate students at various local universities. Besides, he is also a trainer for “Basic Surgical Skills” programmes. Dato Fitjerald is also a life member of Malaysian Medical Association ( MMA) and a committee member of Hospice Negeri Sembilan. He frequently volunteers his service at various medical camps. He is also involved in organizing annual doctor’s dinner or games.

Dato Fitjerald has conducted over 13 research both IIR and ISR research. He also presented his paper at Royal College of Surgeon conferences and other local or international meetings.

His main focus of interests is colorectal surgery.

Dr Tan Soek Siam

Dr Tan Soek Siam

Dr Tan Soek Siam is the Senior Consultant and Head of Hepatology Department in Hospital Selayang. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine (MB BCH BAO BA) from Trinity College, Dublin, Republic of Ireland and subsequently practice at St James Hospital, Monaghan General Hospital and St Collumcilles Hospital in Republic of Ireland from 1991-1995. Upon obtaining her MRCP from Royal College of Physician Ireland in 1995, Dr Tan Soek Siam return to Malaysia and started practicing at Ipoh General Hospital as Clinical Specialist in General Medicine and Gastroenterology. Subsequently, she did her fellowship in Liver Intensive Care and Transplantation at Institute of Liver Studies, King’s College Hospital, London in 2000-2001.

She is the Chairperson for the Working Committee for Medications Gastro and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary of Ministry of Heath( since 2015), a trainer in Hepatology Subspecialty Training programme (since 2003), and a National Advisor in Hepatology for Ministry of Health since 2005. Dr Tan Soek Siam is also a member of the Expert Panel of Specialist Service “ Ask the Expert” at MyHealth Portal, and a member of Specialty Subcommittee for Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the National Credentialing Committee . She is the President-elect of Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2016-2018), a council member of College of Physician, Academy of Medicine, Malaysia and is a founding member of hepatitis Support Group ( 2014). Dr Tan Soek Siam is also active internationally. She is a member of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) ACLF Research Consortium (AARC), member of the Coalition to Eradicate Viral Hepatitis in Asia Pacific (CEVHAP), and was a member of International Organizing Committee Kyoto Asian Pacific Association of the Study of the Liver Disease Scientific Meeting in 2007.

Dr Tan has been invited as speaker at over 18 international meetings, and had published over 80 papers, 24 full articles in peer review journals and presented more than 50 abstracts locally and internationally. She has been actively involved in both Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) or Industry Sponsored Research ( ISR). She has conducted over 29 ISR , either as Principle Investigator at the Site, National Principle Investigator or as a Co-Investigator.

Dr Tan’s main area of interest is viral hepatitis B and C, decompensated and critically ill chronic liver diseases, acute liver failure , acute-on-chronic liver failure, and liver transplantation.

Dr Foo Siew Hui

Dr Siew-Hui FOO is the Consultant Endocrinologist & Physician of the Department of Medicine in Hospital Selayang. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) (1st Class Honours at the University of Sydney, Australia. She obtained her Membership of Royal College Physician (MRCP) at The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and completed her postgraduate endocrinology fellowship in 2009.

She is a committee member of Malaysia Ministry of Health Endocrine Drugs Working Committee, National Endocrine Dynamic Tests Protocols Working Group Committee, Malaysia Ministry of Health Technical Evaluation Committee for Blood Glucose Strips & Glucometer for Ministry of Health Hospitals, District Health Offices & Health Clinics, National Working Committee for Inpatient Glycemic Management Guide, Selangor State Health Department Non-Communicable Disease Technical Committee, Selayang Hospital Research Review Committee, Selayang Hospital Peri-operative Mortality Review Committee, Selayang Hospital Medication Safety Sub-committee and Selayang Hospital Quality Assurance Program / Performance Indicator (HPIA / KPI) Technical Committee.

She has been the co-investigator / principle investigator for 19 Investigated Initiated Research (IIR) as well as Industrial Sponsored Research (ISR). She has co-presented over 15 research papers in local and international meetings followed by publications in various local, regional and international journals. Her main focus of interests includes young onset type 2 diabetes, diabetes in Asians, adrenal / pituitary and thyroid disorders.



Dr Faridah HASSAN is the senior consultant and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) in Hospital Selayang. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She completed her postgraduate Otorinolaryngology fellowship in Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 1995 and subspecialty training in Laser Surgery and Laryngology in 2001 from University Catholic Leuven in Mont. Godine, Yvior, Belgium.

She possessed Certificate of Medical Law from Harun Hashim Law Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia and Certificate of Medical Impairment Assessor from National Institute Occupational & Health (NIOSH). She had training in Voicecraft Techniques under the supervision of Dr Alison Bagnall, Voicecraft International Limited, Adelaide and training in Sleep Medicine under University of Sydney as well as a medical educator training organized by the Royal College of Physicians, London and University of New Castle University of Medicine, Malaysia

She is the Chairman of the Laryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Chapter of the Subspecialty Committee, Advisor for Working Committee of “The ORL Standards of Sleep Facility, Ministry of Health” Medical Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia 2011, revision 2015, Clinical Advisor for Otorhinolaringology Services to Selangor State Health Department, EXCO member for Malaysian Nasopharyngeal Society, ORL representative for Advisory Committee on “Registration Under the Impairment Act 2007” of the Social Welfare Department, Ministry of Woman & Family, Malaysia and “Ask the Expert” penal of MyHealth portal for the Ministry of Health, surveyor for the Malaysian Society of Quality in Health, reviewer for the Malaysian Medical Journal, member of Subspecialty Committee for ORL Services Ministry of Health, life member of Malaysian Oncology Society, member of Working Committee in Coordination of the ORL Master Program, Ministry of Health, member of Advisory Committee of the Registration of Driving License, collaboration between Ministry of Health and Road & Traffic, member of Board of Examiners in the Post Basic Education, Ministry of Health, member of Malaysian Society of ORL-H&N Surgeons and member for various hospital committees .

She has been involved in research for more than 10 years and has few articles published. She also has contributed to the development of The Clinical Practice Guidelines on Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma, MSQH Hospital Accreditation Standards Development 5th Edition, “Primary Care Referral Guidelines, curriculum of Advance Diploma on Peri-operative Nursing- ORL , Head & Neck surgery module curriculum of Advance Diploma on Oncology Nursing- Head & Neck cancer module and Post-basic Education Curriculum Revision and Preparation of Instructors’ Manual organized by Training Division, Ministry of Health, “Trainers’ module for the primary health worker in the Care of Special Needs Children and The Health Technology Assessment on Transnasal Oesophagoscopy

Her interests include Phonietric rehabilitation (voice disorders); Head & neck oncology especially nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); medical law and medical education.
